Announcing the 10th Anniversary Concert of King Solomon's Singers, taking place on Monday, August 21, at 7:30pm at beautiful St. Josaphat. For the occasion, we are reprising our very first program, Sacred and Profane Love, a concert of Renaissance polyphony and chant on Song of Songs texts. The beautiful and evocative poetry of this most sensual and earthly of Old Testament books inspired the musical geniuses of the 15th and 16th centuries to write some of the most ravishing music ever composed for human voices. The ensemble will perform examples of exquisite Song of Songs settings by some of the beloved masters of sacred Renaissance polyphony (such as Palestrina) but also by many lesser known but equally inspired composers (such as Heinrich Isaac and Cipriano de Rore). Parish Music Director Joe Labozetta is among the ensemble singers. Admission is free, with a suggested donation of $20 ($10 for students).
