Participation is a vital part of our faith community. We have need of many people with a broad array of skills, abilities, and commitment levels. Please consider where you might contribute at St. Josaphat!

Descriptions of Opportunities for Service at St. Josaphat


  • Eucharistic Ministers distribute Holy Communion.*
  • Lectors proclaim the scripture readings at weekend Masses.*
  • Seasonal Church Decorators outfit the church seasonally (Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, etc.)
  • Ushers welcome people into church and take up the collection.
  • Wedding Coordinators ensure weddings and wedding rehearsals run smoothly.
  • Sacristans keep order in the sacristy and prepare the altar for Mass.


  • Adult Choir sings at the 10 am Mass September–June. No formal training needed.
  • Cantors lead the congregation in song, sing various texts from the liturgy.


  • Giving Tree Committee Volunteers coordinate the needs of partnering organizations with parishioners’ generosity to provide gifts to those in need at Christmas.
  • Homeless Outreach Shoppers pick up supplies for the Homeless Outreach Program on Tuesdays.
  • Homeless Outreach Volunteers distribute a lunch and drink to the homeless, Mon–Fri, 9:15–11 am.
  • Ministers of Care bring communion to the homebound.
  • Service Team plans quarterly service projects.


  • ​Retreat Planning Team plans the annual parishwide ​​retreat​.
  • SeptemberFest: plan and execute our largest parish community event.
  • Unity Gala: plan and execute our largest annual fundraiser.


  • Children’s Liturgy of the Word Leaders help children understand the Word of God at the 10:00 am Mass.
  • PreCana Couples help engaged couples prepare for marriage during a one-day workshop.
  • RCIA Sponsors are friends and guides to candidates considering full membership in the Catholic Church.*
  • Religious Education Catechists, Aides and Monitors assist with Religious Ed on Tuesday evenings.
  • SPRED (SPecial Religious Education) Friends help nourish the spiritual lives of parishioners with special needs.
  • Vacation Bible School Helpers provide a fun environment for 4–10 year olds to learn about Jesus for one week during the summer.
  • Youth Ministry Leaders assist the Youth Group in planning and activities.


  • Development Council pursues strategies for parish’s financial stability.
  • Finance Council assists with planning and monitoring the parish budget and annual report.
  • Parish Pastoral Council gives input to the pastor for determining the direction of the parish.
  • School Board supports the School Administration in implementing new and existing policies.


  • Boomers Plus Club: St. Josaphat Boomers meet for social and charitable events.
  • Men’s Club meets for low-key social events.
  • ​Men’s Spirituality meets on Saturdays at 6:30 am​​ in a small group format​.
  • ​Tots Playgroup: informal playgroup that meets in the Fireplace Room on Thursdays at 10 am.​
  • Parish Men's Volleyball:  meets Mondays from 8:30pm - 10pm in the gym.
  • Parish Men's Basketball:  meets Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8:30pm - 10pm in the gym.

* Open to adult parishioners who have made their First Communion & Confirmation.
