SPRED Volunteers Needed

This is an important invitation to all people of the parish, both men and women 21 years or older. There has been a serious effort to join the many other parishes that recognize the need to provide a place of hospitality and faith enrichment for our brothers and sisters who live with various developmental and learning disabilities. These children, teens, young adults and adults have the right and the deep desire to find welcome and hope in their lives through an awareness of the God who loves all people.

I address every member of this parish to look inside their hearts and hear the call to BE CHURCH. Being a Catholic is not a passive assent, but a call to action. SPRED provides you with a unique opportunity to reach out to those who are otherwise relegated to the fringes. It is a program based on meaningful relationship, which flourish in a carefully prepared meeting space that fosters comfort, peacefulness, joy, welcome and prayer. This is the greatest gift we can offer our Friends with special needs.

This fall, here at St. Josaphat Parish we will be offering SPRED to 3 friends with disabilities. We have a waiting list of a few more friends who unfortunately cannot join us until we get more adults to volunteer. Training is conveniently provided. No experience is required. Call to learn how easy it is to become a SPRED volunteer. It will bring new meaning to your life and enrichment to your faith. Take a leap of faith. You will be delighted!
